Hui’s work involves the practice of intellectual property laws on both contentious and non-contentious matters, including IP-related commercial transactions and preliminary enforcement actions. Before joining URights, Hui worked in Beijing East IP Law Firm, Simmons & Simmons and Liu, Shen & Associates and Sidley Austin LLP Beijing Office. Brands Portfolio Management - manages the trademark portfolio of a Canadian leading consumer electronics company in China, including acting on behalf of the company in oppositions / invalidation actions to prevent confusion with or dilution of its marks, manages a US leading toys company for brand protection matters in China, including registration of trademark, enforcement strategy, domain name, etc., manage trademark portfolio in China for Morgan Stanley, Bridgewater and the like famous enterprises.

Commercial Matters related to IP - secures favorable outcome for an Israeli leading skin care products company in the opposition to an infringing trademark and clearing a major obstacle to the client’s entry to the China market, advises clients on IP–related agreements or IP provisions in commercial agreements, devises a solution to the registration of a client’s house mark that encountered absolute grounds of refusal. Enforcement Cases - assists clients with online trademark enforcement at e-commerce platforms, social media platforms, ISPs, etc., advises clients on customs enforcement of IP rights, and conducting preliminary investigation of infringers / counterfeiters to secure evidence in preparation for enforcement actions, drafts trademark assignment agreement and exploring ways to ensure that, even in the case of default, the client as the assignee can obtain the mark and not just get damage award, to best protect client’s legitimate rights.
